HERE’S MY HAIR: Original & Mineral styling products

One, two, three, done!
Around 6 months ago I made the decision to chop 30cm off my hair! For many years I had extremely long hair and it became my signature feature, but in mid 2015 I got REALLY sick of the hassle of having thick, knotty-no-matter-what hair that I couldn’t do anything nice with hairstyle-wise due to the discomfort of its heaviness. I got the chop and donated my ponytail to charity so it could be used by someone who needed it more than I did, and for the first time in a very long time I had what I consider short hair (collarbone length)! While it has grown 6-8cm longer in the time since I had it cut, it is still much shorter than I am used to so I’ve had to get a LOT better at styling it. When my hair was long I did little more than just wash, brush and go, and it looked nice enough as it was without any heat styling. I very soon found that with short hair, I have to style it properly unless I want to walk around with an A-shaped head of hair. I’d been wanting to try Australian natural-based haircare brand Original & Mineral for ages but never did pre-cut because I knew I wouldn’t ever use the products; using anything in my long hair took a lot of effort (which I wasn’t willing to put in). However, post-cut I gave in and purchased one full-size product and three samples. A few of them have since become part of my regular haircare routine…
1: Know Knott detangling spray
I love love love this detangling spray. I think it smells like lollies and it works SO WELL. I always use this after washing my hair to ensure that my hair dries tangle-free. I just spray through damp hair and the knots comb out effortlessly. I got this in a 50ml sample size but will definitely opt for the full size when repurchasing.
2: Surf Bomb sea salt spray
The O&M sea salt spray is something I’ve wanted to try for years after seeing it used by Zoe Foster in one of her old YouTube videos (watch here). I purchased the full size bottle; I thought this would come in really handy and get used pretty often as I found that my new shorter hair was feeling too fluffy and soft after washing. Styling my hair with the sea salt spray is toooo easy; I spray all over damp or dry hair and scrunch until it is texturised to my liking. It smells deliciously fresh and I love it!
3: Frizzy Logic shine serum
The O&M shine serum is such a divine little product! You can bet your bottom dollar that I will be upgrading to the full size bottle when my little sample tube runs out. Only a small amount of this pineapple-y scented goodness is needed to give my hair a bit of a healthy glow; I just warm a few drops in my hands and run through the ends of my hair, using any leftover residue to smooth over the top to make it extra shiny.
Optional extra: Atonic thickening spritz
I’m glad I only got the sample size of this one as I’m not sure it’s something I really need and would ever purchase again. It’s described as a setting spray but I don’t find myself using it very often and it’s just not a necessary part of my haircare routine, not to mention that it doesn’t smell as yummy as my other three O&M prods.
♥
Most days I just use my O&M products to make my hair look a bit more presentable than it is when left au naturel, but if I’m really making an effort then I continue styling by straightening or curling my hair, depending on how I feel…
